THE CHALLENGE: MODERNIZE AND INNOVATE

A major health insurer needed to modernize their app and migrate the majority of their desktop users to mobile. The ask: a functional prototype that made the vision tangible. Not wireframes. Something the client could actually feel and understand.

THE SOLUTION: PICK AND SHIP

Two 72-hour sprints. No time for everything, so we made decisions. We mapped what was essential, what could wait, and what would signal innovation. The prototype covered core flows first, then layered in phased features: digital prescriptions connected to pharmacy purchase, AI-assisted operator support with full history tracking, community spaces, and intelligent medical records. Both user roles considered: affiliate and operator.

MY APPROACH: AVOIDING THE GENERIC STYLE

First time pitching Stitch and Figma Make internally. And it worked. With 72 hours on the clock I needed to move fast while actively trying to avoid the generic styles that React and Next.js tend to produce.

I built a quick style guide with Claude first, not to design, but to give Figma Make clear directives. Figma Make tends to hallucinate. The prompts, also crafted with Claude, kept it focused on functionality instead of inventing. The result: a workflow I've since walked several teammates through. The client could actually envision the product within the timeframe, with the fidelity that mattered.
